Money can be a tool to change
I don't like to think about myself as someone who has a big attachment to money. For many years I always considered solutions without using money, considering that I didn't have the financial means for some years, it makes sense.
In my journey to take care of myself, first step I took was buying a 3 months subscription with a nutrition and exercise company. I didn't do it for the commitment at all, I just wanted to have a reliable source of knowledge that I can ask about nutrition and exercise, along side a supervision that made me more confident in the process. But once I paid and I started follow the diet and going to gym (came later), I realized how important it was for me to create this commitment and seal it with money I paid. The moments I wanted to eat more or not to go to the gym were coming and going, but the idea that I am already paying and already put effort was a strong motivation to continue.
It might seem obvious that it makes sense that you will put more effort if you put money on the line, but that didn't work for me in many other things, so I just considered as a technique that I can use and encourage you to try it if you want to change something for so long and you didn't try it while having the financial means.
May Allah bless you
